*Job Description:*
The Medical Dosimetrist is a member of the Radiation Oncology team who has knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment. *As a **Dosimetrist*** *at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:*
*Essential Functions*
* Designs treatment plan by means of computer planning systems and/or manual computation to deliver a prescribed radiation dose.
* Designs field placement techniques in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription to a defined tumor volume, with consideration of dose-limiting structures.
* When indicated, supports treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices, including CT, MRI, and PET.
* Performs or assists in the planning and fabrication of immobilization devices, compensation filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices.
* Supports the therapist staff in the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
* Documents all pertinent information in the patient record and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations.
* Teaches applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students and residents as assigned.
* Participates in clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques.

*Minimum Qualifications*
* Certification in Medical Dosimetry by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
* One year of treatment planning experience
*Preferred Qualifications *
* Bachelor's degree in physical or biological sciences from an accredited institution. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
* American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
* Experience with Brachytherapy
*Physical Requirements*
* Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
* Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
* Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
* Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
* Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
* May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
* For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

36The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
